return to greener pastures

mood :: contented
sounds :: rob thomas - lonely no more
random thought :: could i maintain my ideal grade until i graduate in 2009? probably not.

It was a pretty eventful day. For the first time after the course card day last term, I finally set foot on dlsu once more. I had to pay my tuition (and that meant leaving all the bumming, vacation-ing and slacking behind... summer's officially over for Lasallians, but at least i have a couple of days more to spare). I doubted if any of my blockmates were going to pay theirs today so I messaged up aia (who said she was just hanging at her condo the whole week). I'd love some company while waiting in those long lines.

I woke up late. It's weird though 'cause even if I sleep at 2 in the morning, I usually still wake up at around 7.30. It wasn't the case this time. I was lying in bed when i received a message from aia saying that she'd be waiting at the EGI lobby at around 10. It was 9. There was no way I would make it in time. I told her to wait there at around 11 instead.

I was in a real rush this morning. Didn't even have time to eat breakfast or do some early morning crunches (ken and mark, are we still up for that dlsu gym membership?). Soon, I found myself sitting on a bus on the way to dlsu (and I haven't done that in a long time too). But, then... you guessed it... it was a Wednesday and Baclaran day = traffic. Plus the bus driver kept stopping to pick up passengers. I enjoy commuting and being independent, but some days, I just wish I had my own car already (mom and dad, please read this.. birthday gift? :) ). Anyway, I finally arrived at dlsu at 11.30. sorry aia. :)

We made our way to the accounting office. I was hoping to see some of my blockmates there but I knew most of them had paid their tuition already. Instead, I saw a couple of my friends from other colleges and dlsu orgs. Anyway, so I paid my fee and we were patiently waiting there for my receipt when we saw aia's upper-batch 'friend' from COS (I'm not even gonna go into the details of that one :) ). It took some time before I heard my name on the speakers (meanwhile, aia was getting a kick out of reading my Lasallian planner... let's just say there were 'unnecessary notes' written there). We then went to mcdo for lunch, and I knew I'd be hurting my pockets again. I had to have my big mac meal. :)

So aia and I had a good long talk over lunch (actually she did most of the talking since it was taking so long for me to finish my big mac and hot fudge sundae... that aia... so patient... :) ). Then, we saw the COS 'friend' again with her boyfriend (who aia loves to call PA --- as in Production Assistant). She told me that this 'friend' of hers would be one of those people who kept asking questions about sex during biology class. I just laughed. She also told me some 'intereseting' things about COS students (to all those who think they're all about books and scientific calculators, you haven't heard aia's stories... apparently, COS is as 'action-packed' as any Lasallian college :) ).

After I finally finished up my meal (heavy lunch indeed), I didn't want to go home just yet 'cause I knew I wouldn't have anything else to do. At first we wanted to go inside dlsu and see if there were people we knew at SJ. But then, when we tried to get in, our IDs would make this annoying (and embarrasing) sound... the one that sounded like a laser gun gone amok (what an analogy :) ). Turns out our IDs were still invalidated and we needed our EAFs so we could get in (we were able to get inside dlsu earlier because we passed through agno gate... the id sensor there wasn't working). So we headed on up to aia's condo to get her EAF. When we arrived there, her tita and other 'business women' were discussing about 'folders' (aia would later tell me that her tita was planning to write a textbook). Because of the scorching heat outside, we just decided to hang there at the tambayan for a while. Actually, a good long hour. Sometimes I wondered how easy my life would be if I had a condo near dlsu, but at the same time, I enjoyed commuting (travel time meant sleeping or thinking time... which had to be two of my favorite past-times this week). Two good things about the tambayan (we call aia's condo the 'tambayan' because it's where all sorts of people would crash if they weren't really doing anything) is that food never seems to run out and the internet is free. Plus, aia has a plethora of gadgets (one I especially liked today was her new cybershot digital cam. Now I have another thing added to my wishlist :) ).

While we were chillin up there, aia was listening to Rob Thomas' album. She had Rob Thomas everywhere... she even had the music video playing in her blogsite. After listening to the same thing over and over again, who wouldn't get sucked in (last song syndrome... or what my brother's yearbook liked to call 'last song SANG')? For my take on the whole 'Rob Thomas going solo' thing, read one of my entries at the left sidebar of this page. :)

Anyway, I suddenly remembered that I had also asked Carmeli if she would be in dlsu today. So I messaged her and I told her that aia and I were just hanging at her place. As luck would have it, carmeli wasn't really with anyone since she was just waiting for her boyfriend to finish his LPEP (CCS). Aia and I decided to leave the condo for awhile and go down to where carmeli was. We met up with her at the EGI lobby and we were planning to go inside dlsu again through the agno gate. But then, carmeli told us she left her ID at the South gate. At this point, because we were thinking of what we should do next, we saw COS 'friend' for the third time. Aia and I laughed and carmeli was pretty much dumbfounded. We filled her in on the way back to the condo... yes, eventually we had to go back up there.

The rest of the afternoon at aia's condo was all about revelations. I found out things I didn't know, and the girls found out things they didn't know. They were both surprised when I told them some updates on some of our Manresan batchmates and they kept wondering how I kept track (I told them I didn't become acp wing intelligence for nothing... it was in my job description haha..). A lot of stories and jokes (edge? haha) were exchanged. But after all was said and done, aia and carmeli couldn't get over the fact that one of our female batchmates currently has a girlfriend (in what appears to be a relationship). And of course, during our stay up there, we had to taste the fruit salad aia's tita had prepared. Absolutely delicious.

Shortly after, at around 4pm, carmeli had to leave because her boyfriend's LPEP had probably ended (for some reason, they had no means to contact each other). Aia and I decided to abandon the tambayan once again and just hang at starbucks. More talk over my trademark white mocha frap (which was a grande... I usually go for a venti though) and her trademark mocha frap. She told me things I'd rather not disclose. Aia, I'm sure it will all work out. :)

It was getting late and I had to leave to beat the rush hour traffic (too late though). Plus, it was one of those weird days when the heat would be unbearable during the daytime, but it would rain so hard in the late afternoon. I accompanied aia back to her condo (but she made me board a bus before we could even reach the north gate... by that time there was already a slight drizzle) and we said our goodbyes. I missed hanging with her and I'm glad we both had a super time.

When I arrived home, I was wasted. I ate dinner and I just lay in bed, watching Bo Bice's acapella performance. There's no doubt in my mind he'll make the finals. I think Vonzell will be the next one to go.

All's well that ends well. It was a tiring day but it was all worth it. I had a great time and that's all that matters.
